System set-up
Setting up the 3D Cell Explorer is the first step for using it, you can find all the documents and notes necessary for the system installation in this section.
Important information
We highly recommend to
- complete a system full inspection before the installation at customer site;
- install the 3D Cell Explorer yourself at customer site in order to avoid any mishandling of the microscope and damages.
Pre-instrument installation
Before the installation of the 3D Cell Explorer at the customer site, please download and install the corresponding software on the computer to avoid errors or long downloading time caused by the low speed internet connection. Please note that during the installation of the 3D Cell Explorer, internet connection is still required. STEVE needs to download necessary documents from Nanolive’s cloud to be able to control a specific unit of the 3D Cell Explorer (recognized by the serial number).
If you know in advance that there will be no internet connection at the customer site, please contact support@nanolive.ch in advance with the serial number of the unit in concern.
If you are using the Express Delivery Service Option from Nanolive, please track your package with the tracking number provided by Nanolive to make sure to get in touch with the Express Delivery Service on time for the import.

Traveling with your demo 3D Cell Explorer-fluo
As a distributor, you will travel a lot with your demo 3D Cell Explorer-fluo. We have listed some suggestions to follow below.
After a travel and/or a big temperature change (+/- 20C), the system must acclimate to room temperature and condition in order to provide the best image quality. Before starting the routine acquisition, please follow the mandatory warming up procedure: connect the microscope with the computer and start a 4D acquisition (empty field of view) at maximal speed for minimal 30 minutes.

Basic maintenance
Two fundamental procedures to keep your 3D Cell Explorer in its best shape.
Service Document: Cleaning Procedure for the optical elements
Service Document: Standard Inspection Procedure (SIP), please contact Nanolive Service team
Maintenance operations
Maintenance Operations are organized in different service levels, requiring appropriate operators’ qualification and a specific work environment to perform correctly the service and maintenance operations for the Nanolive 3D Cell Explorer.
There are three service level classifications as per the following: Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3.
- Level 1: The operations can be done remotely (software) or without removing the cover;
- Level 2: The operations need to have the cover removed. It requires notably to remove the seals (“warranty void if seal is broken”) and apply new ones after maintenance. It would mainly concern the electronics.
- Level 3: The operations need to access the clean optical channel. This should be done in a clean environment. It could be the case if one need to change a MEMS or the laser.
Should such maintenance operation be required, we will send you the corresponding documentation that mentions the specific classification, its details about the operators’ qualification and the consumable/tools needed for the operation and guide you remotely through the operations if necessary. If you are not able to reach the requirements for such maintenance operations, we will provide you a return for repair offer depending on the warranty situation.
Maintenance environment & conditions: For this type of operations, it is highly recommended to work in a common-sense clean environment. The operator must be qualified for this level of operation. The microscope should be disconnected, installed on a stable work-place with appropriate ESD protection bench ware.
Please note that opening the 3D Cell Explorer and removing covers without the written approval of Nanolive will void the product’s warranty.
